Official Details of Audi Quattro Sport E-Tron Concept Will Be Showed on September 10

Sketches of the Audi Quattro Sport e-tron concept have leaked ahead of its anticipated debut at next month’s Frankfurt motor show.

The vivid sketches, first published by German enthusiast website AutoZeitung, are signed by members of Audi Design Team and preview a high-performance coupe that evolves the styling of the Audi Quattro concept of 2010.

AutoZeitung reports the Audi Quattro Sport e-tron concept will inherit the twin-turbocharged 412kW/700Nm 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine from the RS6 and RS7 and pair it with an electric motor for a combined hybrid system output of approximately 520kW.

The petrol-electric powertrain is said to launch the all-wheel-drive Quattro Sport e-tron concept from 0-100km/h in slightly more than three seconds and on to a 330km/h top speed, and facilitate a 35km zero-emission pure-electric driving range.

The sketches suggest the second iteration of the Quattro concept will retain the original’s three-door hatchback-style layout.

An assertive upright hexagonal grille dominates the front end beneath the car’s prominent four-ring badge, while piercing LED headlights and gaping intakes with twin vertical blades flank it either side.

Carbonfibre embraces the front splitter, side vents and skirts, wing mirrors and rear diffuser, which contains two large circular exhaust outlets and quattro lettering. Rectangular tail-lights sit either side of a broad black panel, advancing the design philosophy introduced by the 2010 Quattro concept.

The sketches also give a taste of the cabin, revealing a digital instrument cluster with racetrack timing and position information, a touch-sensitive rotary dial with fingertip-drawn character recognition, and a racecar-inspired steering wheel with large buttons and paddleshifters.

The Audi Quattro Sport e-tron concept is said to preview a low-volume production model that is rumoured to launch in 2016.

Official details of the concept are expected in the lead-up to its expected Frankfurt debut on September 10.
