The High-End Watch Manufacture Founded in 1955 in La Chaux-De-Fonds

Last year Trophee Jules Verne for sailing around the world with no stopovers and no assistance went to the Maxi Banque Populaire sailboat. Each of the crew members and the Banque Populaire as the ship owner received dedicated personalized timepieces from Montres Corum, the high-end watch manufacture founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The 19 watches were created on the basis of the Corum Admiral’s CUP model in titanium personalized in the colors of the trophy.

One of these watches was auctioned on behalf of Mecenat Chirugie Cardiaque, thanks to the joint initiative of Banque Populaire and Montres Corum.

Mecenat Chirurgie Cardiaque enables children affected by cardiac malformations and from underprivileged countries to be operated on in France when this is impossible in their homeland due to a lack of technical or financial means. Operated on in 11 hospitals in France, almost 2,000 children have already been thus taken in hand since the Association was created in 1996.

“It is an honor to be able to associate the Corum brand with a project whose mission is to save lives,” said Antonio Calce, CEO and partner of Corum.

“We are proud to be in a position to commit to this action of solidarity alongside the Banque Populaire, a partner that shares both our passion for sailing and our values. Together, we are going to give time and above all dreams to children around the world, via Mecenat Chirurgie Cardiaque”.

The Trophee Jules Verne watch was be part of the Artcurial collector’s watchmaking auction held in July at the Hermitage Hotel in Monte Carlo.
