Graphic Packaging to Acquire Folding Carton Maker Walter G. Anderson in US

Graphic Packaging International has agreed to acquire 100% of folding carton manufacturer Walter G. Anderson (WG Anderson) for an undisclosed amount.

The announcement comes on the heels of the company's agreement to purchase Australian folding carton supplier Colorpak earlier this month.

Under the terms of the recent deal, Graphic Packaging's acquisition would include WG Anderson's two sheet-fed folding carton converting facilities in Hamel, Minnesota and Newton, Iowa.

Based in Minnesota, WG Anderson produces folding cartons for the store branded food and consumer products markets.

Graphic Packaging president and CEO Michael Doss said: "The acquisition of WG Anderson is a continuation of our strategy to grow in attractive geographies and end markets.

"The addition of these two state-of-the-art converting facilities enhances our leadership position in the key North American food and consumer product markets. We are also very pleased to welcome Marc Anderson, president and CEO of WG Anderson, and his highly talented workforce to the Graphic Packaging team."

Subject to standard closing requirements and regulatory review, the acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of this year.

Marc Anderson added: "We are delighted to join the Graphic Packaging team. Our employees and customers will benefit from this combination.

"Our long history of providing our customers with high-quality, value added packaging solutions, speed to market, and a customer focused culture will certainly strengthen Graphic Packaging's global position in the food and consumer product packaging markets."

With locations in Europe, Australia, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and North America, Graphic Packaging manufactures paperboard and folding cartons for a wide range of consumer goods, particularly beverages and packaged food.

The company operates a mill in West Monroe, Louisiana and in Macon Georgia that uses recycled municipal wastewater in the manufacture of food grade cardboard.
