Global dairy company Arla Foods has awarded a phase II process contract to SPX Corporation's Flow Food and Beverage business.
The contract will require SPX to design and install a new processing system for Arla Foods' fresh milk dairy located in Aylesbury, the UK.
Said to be the world's largest, the Aylesbury site was unveiled in May 2014.
The Aylesbury dairy will have the capacity to produce close to 240,000 liters of milk per hour and one billion liters annually, following the completion of phase II project by the end of 2015.
The milk is supplied by 900 British farmers, the majority of whom are farmer-owners.
SPX had already supplied a full-line, customized dairy processing system to Aylesbury dairy processing plant, under a contract awarded by Arla in 2011.
The existing dairy processing system is capable of producing 650 million liters of fresh milk annually.
SPX Flow Food and Beverage president Marc Michael said: "The Arla plant in Aylesbury features some of our most sophisticated, highly automated, and energy efficient dairy processing systems, which have helped make it not only one of the world's largest dairy facilities, but quite possibly the world's most sustainable dairy plant.
"The plant features numerous advanced technology solutions combined with a fully integrated and automated SPX system for controlling all of the plant's floor equipment."
Arla currently produces dairy products in the UK under various brands including Anchor, Cravendale, Lurpak and Tickler.
