Flexible packaging material supplier Rollprint Packaging Products has added a new easy-to-open package Peelable Exponent to its Barex replacement product range.

The new peelable Barex replacement structure has been developed for pharmaceutical and combination drug single dose applications.

A technical team at the company's R&D laboratory have created and analyzed sealant chemistry to find the optimal balance of chemical inertness, hermetic seals, and peelability to develop the new package that can hold challenging chemicals, Rollprint Packaging said.

Commenting on the development, Rollprint Packaging Products sales and marketing vice president Dwane Hahn said: "Knowing that our customers would need to fully validate any Barex alternatives we asked, 'What else would you change now if you had the option for the perfect product?'"

"The most common response received was 'the desire for an easy opening feature' which is what led us to our latest development."

Besides the Peelable Exponent, Rollprint Packaging's Exponent family includes Exponent 2, 3 and 4.

Rollprint Packaging Products operates manufacturing facilities near Chicago, Illinois where it produces packaging materials for the healthcare and consumer industries.

The company offers a complete range of flexible, heat-sealable materials incorporating film, ClearFoil, foil, Tyvek and paper.

Rollprint is known for its heat-sealable, peelable rollstock and pouch technology, as well as its ClearFoil ultra-high barrier transparent laminates, Allegro peelable sealants and ClearForm forming webs.

Last year, the company added a second high-barrier structure Exponent 2 to its Exponent film family.

Exponent 2 provides a chemically neutral, ultra-high oxygen and water vapor barrier with chemical resistance and will be primarily used in pre-made or inline pouching, lidding and flow wrap applications.
