This Year's Intertextile Shanghai Has a Bigger Size

Building on the success of the 2012 edition, this year’s Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics will boast 15 halls, with over 3,500 international and domestic exhibitors featured across more than 170,000 sqm from October 21 to 24, 2013.

Returning again is the ever-popular SalonEurope in hall W1, which will include premium fabrics and accessories suppliers from Europe looking to take advantage of the surging domestic demand for Western brands. Within SalonEurope is the Milano Unica pavilion. Making its debut last year, this invitation-only area hosted 124 of the most prestigious textile companies from Italy.

In addition to these areas, the Premium Wool and Verve for Design zones will also return in 2013. The former will bring suppliers of high-end woollen products together, while the latter will showcase inspirational and creative ideas for original textile design, with a particular focus on mid-range and high-end items.

Furthermore, Asian pavilions and individual exhibitors will be located in halls W2 – 4, with participants already confirmed from India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan and Thailand. And the Accessories Hall in halls E6 and E7 will feature international and domestic producers of both garment and fashion accessories.

Highlights include debut ‘All about Sustainability’ zone and focus on functional fabrics

Making its first appearance at the fair this year is the ‘All about Sustainability’ zone which will feature a special focus on recycled fabrics and products. The zone is a promotional area for producers of fabrics, products and technology, as well as those that offer sustainable business tools and certification. Also, exhibitors can take advantage of the display area to gain extra exposure for their recycled fabrics and products, projects, services and creative solutions.

Mirroring current trends in the textiles industry, functional fabrics and products are another focus area at the fair. In the domestic market in particular, functional fabrics for sportswear, ladieswear and menswear are in high demand. The Intertextile Directions Trend Forum – which will showcase the trends for autumn / winter 2014-15 in hall W1 – features special labelling for functional fabrics and products that are  on display in this area, helping visitors more easily identify these items.

Informative and inspiring fringe programme includes seminars, catwalk shows and design competitions

As well as the Trend Forum, a wide range of events make up the fringe programme. This includes a full schedule of seminars, with topics such as design and trends, technology and solutions, certification and testing, and market information and business strategies.

Cutting-edge garment designs will be seen on the runway in a series of Intertextile Catwalk shows. And select exhibitors will have the chance to maximise their business opportunitiesby utilising product presentation sessions to promote their brands, fabrics and products to buyers. Exhibitors can also submit their fabrics to the China International Fabric Design Competition, with winners announced at the fair.
