Russian Packaging Firm Kazanskiy Launches AD*STAR Sacks Production Plant

Russian firm Kazanskiy Zavod Sovremennoy Upakovki (KZSU) has launched new plant for the production of AD*STAR block bottom sacks.

Located in the Himgrad technology zone in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia, the plant has capacity to produce AD*STAR block bottom sacks for the packaging of cement, gypsum, chemicals, fertilizer, animal feed and other dry bulk goods.

For sacks production, the plant uses equipment manufactured by Austrian machinery supplier Starlinger.

Starlinger supplied extrusion, weaving, coating and printing lines, as well as two ad*starKON sack conversion lines and a recoSTAR universal recycling line for treating the production waste.

The sacks, which are made using coated polypropylene (PP) tape fabric, will be supplied to companies including JSC Chemical Plant Karpov, Asia Cement, Poliplast, Knauf Gypsum, Cement Plant Samadov (Tajikistan).

The coated PP fabric allows the brick-shaped sacks to sustain potential breakage when dropped, squeezed or bent, and are resistant against humidity.

Designed for automated filling and palletizing, the AD*STAR can be used on every high-speed roto-packer, Starlinger said.

The leak-proof and virtually dust-free sacks have optional micro-perforation (600 000 holes/m2) required for aeration during the filling process of cement.

Recently, Starlinger launched new plastics recycling line recoSTAR dynamic 215 its factory in Weissenbach an der Triesting, Austria.
