Huntington Park Is Seeking Bids for an Upcoming Streetlight Replacement Initiative

The city of Huntington Park, California, is seeking bids from qualified firms to supply Cobrahead style LED streetlights for an upcoming streetlight replacement initiative. The project will replace existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with new, energy efficient LED streetlight fixtures. The Request for Proposals (RFP) is for the purchase of 380 LED streetlights manufactured by Cree, Inc.

According to the bid document, existing HPS streetlights range from 175 watts to 400 watts. Specifically, those targeted for replacement include 200 – 150 watt fixtures, 40 - 175 watt fixtures, 50 – 200 watt fixtures, and 90 – 250 watt fixtures. Although the bid specifies Cree, Inc. as the approved manufacturer, other fixtures meeting photometric and performance specifications will be considered. Photometric requirements include a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 4,000K ±300, and a color rendering index (CRI) of ≥70. The new LED streetlight fixture is expected to reduce energy consumption by at least 50 percent. Bidders are required to supply one functional product sample which will be tested for compliance.

The project is scheduled to begin on June 10, 2013 with a target completion date of September 30, 2013. Questions and requests for clarification will be accepted until Thursday, May 30, 2013.
