Schur Flexibles to Acquire Stake in Dutch Packaging Company Drukkerij Zwart

Austria-based Schur Flexibles Group has signed an agreement to acquire majority stake in the Dutch company Drukkerij Zwart for undisclosed amount.

Drukkerij Zwart is engaged in developing and producing packaging products for the food industry.

Zwart operates its main plant in Amersfoort, Netherlands as well as a production location in St. Petersburg in Russia. It serves international customers in the tea, coffee and confectionary sectors.

The transaction is subject to the approval of the cartel authorities.

Schur Flexibles Group CEO Jakob Mosser said: “After two years of consolidation this is the first purchase under our new owner, Lindsay Goldberg, initiating a new phase of growth also by acquisitions.

“With the acquisition of Zwart we focus and strengthen our profile as supplier of high-quality flexible packaging solutions.”

In 2014, Swedish-Danish cooperative Arla Foods sold it its packaging subsidiary Danapak Flexibles to Schur Flexibles Group as it is not within its core business.

Danapak Flexibles provides packaging services for firms in the pharma, dairy and food industries.

Schur Flexibles is engaged in providing packaging products, packaging solutions, packaging systems, packaging services and know-how for the food, tobacco and pharmaceutical industries.

Employing around 1,350 people, Schur Flexibles offers high quality and made-to-measure high-barrier packaging solutions. It encompasses 13 companies with 13 production plants in Germany, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Greece and Russia.
