Coveris Introduces New Recovery System

Packaging firm Coveris has introduced a new recovery system, Recoveris, which allows the delamination and separation of label stock from silicone backing paper for reprocessing.

The company has deployed the new recovery system at its recycling facility located in Lincolnshire, London.

Coveris has developed the recovery system for sustainable management of waste.

The recovery system will help to repurpose around 1,000 tonnes of additional waste per week for regeneration or recycling.

Recoveris will enable to collect surplus customer label waste resulted due to seasonal forecasting challenges and general spoilage within the supply-chain.

Coveris’ environmental facility is involved in the recycling of own production and redundant manufacturing waste, in addition to other paper and plastic used across the supply chain.

Coveris’ environmental services manager Tim Lennon said: “The launch of Recoveris marks a new step in our ability to recycle more product waste more sustainably than before and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the environment.

“We plan to continue investing in our recycling facility in 2018 to develop new processes and solutions for dealing with waste, whilst also working more closely with customers to look at ways in which we can collaborate to improve recycling across the entire supply-chain and in new product areas.”

Earlier this month, Coveris has completed a restructuring of its business by splitting it into four units, dubbed Americas, Rigid, EMEA, and UK Food & Consumer.

The company also revealed that it is considering strategic alternatives for its Americas and Rigid packaging businesses after the realignment, as part of its go-forward strategy.
