Henkel Launches Food Safe Modular Aliphatic Adhesive Systems

Henkel has recently introduced new food safe modular aliphatic adhesive systems - Loctite Liofol LA 2760 / LA 5891-21 and Loctite Liofol LA 2760 / LA 7371 – to cater to sectors demanding high performance retort processing and flexible packaging applications.

Applicable for both inner and outer layers, Henkel′s LA 2760 / LA 5891-21 conforms to direct FDA 177.1390 compliance, while Loctite Liofol LA 2760/LA 7371 is capable of curing at room temperature.

They operate with a high percentage of solid content of up to 40%, ultimately resulting in the reduction of the consumption of ethyl acetate without compromising wetting properties.

Henkel marketing manager Regina Müller said: "The new Loctite Liofol adhesive system offers just that adding sustainable benefits, reduced complexity and outstanding overall performance.

"In combination with the hardener LA 5891-21 Loctite Liofol LA 2760 grants direct FDA 177.1390 compliance. If you focus on curing at room temperature the combination LA 2760 / LA 7371 is your perfect choice."

Loctite Liofol LA 2760 / LA 5891-21 and LA 2760 / LA 7371 can integrate with retort applications up to 60 minutes and a temperature up to 134 degrees Celsius.

The retort process demands a certain product and temperature resistance of food packaging material with a view to extending shelf-life and thus, reducing food loss.

Henkel technical manager Stefan Tomke said: "The new modular aliphatic adhesive system is dedicated for high performance applications covering low migration and fast curing products.

"It offers high reliability and sustainability for food and non-food packaging and delivers best results for film/film structures including SiOx- or AlOx-coated barrier films and, film/foil structures."
