Quebec's Bell Centre Is The Newest Member of The Electric Circuit

Quebec’s Bell Centre, home to the Montreal Canadiens, is the newest member of The Electric Circuit, and is set to deploy two public charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in its parking lot in the coming weeks, said Hydro-Quebec. “Having such a prestigious partner in the sports and entertainment industry join The Electric Circuit shows that the interest in public charging is here to stay,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, senior director-strategic planning at Hydro-Quebec, speaking on behalf of The Electric Circuit’s founding partners. “EV drivers can charge their vehicles while they attend sports or cultural events at the Bell Centre, a venue with a well-established reputation.”

“We are proud and delighted to contribute to improving the quality of our environment by installing charging stations. This initiative fits in perfectly with our sustainable development program, The goal is green,” continued Kevin Gilmore, executive vice president and COO, Montreal Canadiens.

The Electric Circuit—with its founding partners of Les Rotisseries St-Hubert, Rona, Metro, the Agence metropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Quebec—is a major milestone in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in EVs in Quebec, said the utility. By the end of the year, more than 150, 240V Electric Circuit stations will be available in 10 Quebec regions. Last modified on Friday, 22 February 2013 10:56
