O-I has entered into an agreement with Emhart Glass to supply glass forming machines and parts to all of O-I’s plants around the world. This strategic alliance is an extension of a long-standing relationship between the two companies, as O-I currently uses Emhart Glass glass forming equipment in about 60 of its approximately 400 production lines.
As part of the agreement, Emhart Glass will supply machines, equipment and components used in the glass container forming process, as well as related spare parts for O-I’s plants. The companies will form a dedicated joint engineering team to further enhance and develop the glass forming equipment to meet O-I requirements.
Emhart Glass, with headquarters in Zug, Switzerland, is a division of Bucher Industries and is the world’s leading supplier of glass container forming equipment.
The companies expect to begin implementation of the agreement in the second quarter of 2013.
