Spanish Carmaker Seat Has Delivered Three Prototype Electric Cars to Barcelona

Spanish carmaker Seat has delivered three prototype electric cars to Barcelona for testing the vehicles in its municipal car fleet for six months ahead of mass production.

During the testing period,SEAT will collect the feedback and validate performance before its production.

Within this scheme,Seat has loaned one e-Altea XL to Endesa,another to the Catalan Energy Institute(ICAEN),additional two Leon TwinDrive-one to each of the two organisations respectively which will be delivered within few weeks.

The carmaker is also planning to lend further vehicles to various governmental departments,institutions,and private companies involved in eco-friendly fleets over the approaching months.

The Altea XL Electric Ecomotive offers a range of 135km with a power output of 115hp and torque of 270Nm while offering a top speed of 135kph.

Seat's Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive EV allows all-electric or hybrid driving modes and offers a range of 52km in electric mode with a top speed of 120kph,while in mixed mode the EV offers a top speed of 170kph.

SEAT executive vice president Matthias Rabe said delivering these electric vehicles to institutional fleets covers a new stage in company's electric motoring strategy.

"SEAT's future is electric and we are opting for diversification of alternative technologies so as to cater to different motoring needs,"Rabe said.
