ACIMIT, the Association of Italian textile machinery manufacturers, will be present with its own booth at the upcoming Myanmar Fabric & Garment Industry Show (15-18 March). ACIMIT attendance at the show is justified by positive developments in the local textile and garment sector.
Within the global outlook for the textile and apparel industry, Myanmar is a Country experiencing strong growth. The textile sector, and the garment segment especially, is currently attracting the attention of many Western brands as a base for their manufacturing operations, providing a strong competitive advantage and very low production costs.
In order to consolidate and increase their global competitive edge, local textile manufacturers deem it is necessary to focus not only on low-cost labour, but also equip their factories with machinery capable of sustaining ever increasing production levels.
For this reason, Italian textile machinery sector wants to be ready to grasp the business opportunities offered by this phase of transformation occurring in Myanmar. ACIMIT will thus take part with its very own booth at the 2013 edition of the Myanmar Fabric & Garment Industry Show, the textile sector trade show to be held from 15 - 18 March in Yangon.
“As has already occurred in other countries in the area,” explains ACIMIT’s President Sandro Salmoiraghi, “the shift in production for many established global brands and important manufacturers in the industry coincide with a qualitative leap in the technological level of the local textile and garment sector. Although sales of Italian machinery in Myanmar are not yet significant, our attendance at the trade fair aims to establish a bridge from which to enhance the penetration of Italian technology in the local market.”

ACIMIT represents an industrial sector comprising around 300 companies (employing roughly 12,400 people) and producing machinery for an overall value of 2.7 billion euros, with exports amounting to 80% of total sales. The quality of Italian textile technology is evidenced by the high number of countries in which Italian machinery is sold: around 130 countries worldwide.
Creativity, technology, reliability and quality are the characteristics which have made Italy a global leader in the manufacturing of textile machinery.
