MCG Wrote About Hidden Alcohol in Flavor and Use of Ethyl Alcohol

MCG wrote about hidden alcohol in flavor and use of ethyl alcohol during the processing of Carrageenan. But they did not answer the questions. So MCG called Baskin Robbins toll free number again. An agent the return the call and provided the following on phone on March 13, 2013.

1. Alcohol is used in flavors of Baskin Robbins Waffle Cones and Base Ball Nut Ice Cream.

2. No alcohol is used in the flavors of Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream so it is a Halal ice cream.

3. No alcohol is used in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice cream but it has Mushbooh Carrageenan. This ice cream is Mushbooh.

Baskin Robbins agent during a telephone call on March 13, 2013 will try provide a list of alcohol free ice cream and use of Isopropyl alcohol or KCL during the processing of Carrageenan. I do not know when they will provide the list but I request all those Muslim consumers who are interested in consuming Baskin Robbins ice cream please contact Baskin Robbins at 1-800-859-5339. You have to mention this paragraph " is alcohol used as a solvent in flavor; alcohol is a hidden ingredient or processing aid ingredient of a flavor, it will not appear in the ingredients statement. The knowledge of presence or absence of alcohol in flavor is only known to your QA or Technical service department because they have access to the specification of flavors. In the specification of flavor, your flavor supplier has written  the name of solvent or carrier used in that particular flavor. So please request your QA or Technical service department to find out whether alcohol was used or not in the flavor as a solvent. The consumer department cannot answer this question because they do not have access to specification of ingredients".
