A Sewage Treatment System Has Been Installed on The Cape St George

A Severn Trent De Nora MARINER OMNIPURE sewage treatment system has been installed on the Cape St George, a new patrol boat designed and constructed by Austal for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service. Cape St George is the first in a series of eight patrol boats which will all be outfitted with the MARINER OMNIPURE M5508 system. “Daily activities aboard vessels generate sewage that can contain contaminants that have a detrimental effect on water quality and the overall marine environment. In Australia, where environmental protection is key, it is important the sewage treatment systems used aboard boats are extremely reliable and effective,” explained Dana Casbeer, marine and offshore product line manager for Severn Trent De Nora. “The electrolytic disinfection technology used by the MARINER OMNIPURE generates a powerful oxidant from seawater to effectively disinfect biological wastes, resulting in wastewater effluent quality well within the MEPC.159(55) requirements,” added Casbeer.
