Are You Still Waiting for a Pixel Phone? Google Has a Sweetener

The new Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones are proving more popular than even the manufacturer expected and, as a result, getting ahold of one is proving quite tricky.

Even some of those folks who were quick off the mark in ordering one of the ‘Made by Google’ handsets are still waiting for confirmed delivery dates.

Now the firm is offering an apology to customers by way of a $50 credit for the Google Play store. The company is informing some Pixel purchasers via email.

The message says (via The Next Web): “Thank you for your recent purchase on Google Store. We’re really excited for you to experience our new products, but we have some not-so-great news: It’s going to take a little longer for you to receive your package than we expected. We know this can be frustrating, but the good news is that we’ve shipped your order and it’s on its way.

“You should’ve already received a shipment confirmation email from us. We’re also going to send you a $50 Google Play credit via email soon after your package is delivered.”

That credit can be used on movies, TV shows, music and apps once the phone arrives.

Both Pixel phones have been met with largely positive early reviews. In our tests we awarded the larger Pixel XL phone a near-perfect score of 9/10.

We praised the phone for its stunning, fast camera, bright display and impressive battery life. It also earned praise for the Google Assistant and Android Nougat version shipped with the device.

It only lost points for the hefty un-Nexus-like price-tag, lack of water resistance and suspect durability.
