Osram Sylvania can help businesses meet and achieve LEED prerequisites and points.

With the official launch of LEED v4 at the 2013 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Philadelphia this week, North American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA is showcasing at Booth #2519 the latest in traditional and solid state lighting solutions and controls that can help businesses meet and achieve LEED prerequisites and points. For over 40 years, OSRAM SYLVANIA has led the way in introducing products that deliver energy savings to customers and reduce CO2 emissions from power plants.

“As a leader in innovative solutions, we are dedicated to products and processes that help solve global sustainability challenges, address economic needs and protect our environment today and in the future,” said Jenn Dolin, manager of sustainability and environmental affairs, OSRAM SYLVANIA. “By offering the latest lighting technologies, controls and project management services, OSRAM SYLVANIA is a one-stop resource for businesses to maximize their lighting perfomance, achieve LEED points and comply with building codes and energy efficiency requirements.”

Two primary criteria in sustainable solutions include saving energy and avoiding wasted light. At Greenbuild 2013, OSRAM SYLVANIA will be showing a variety of innovations that help address these needs, such as:

•    ENCELIUM® advanced lighting controls and Energy Management System (EMS) with new Phase Cut Dimming Module – With the ENCELIUM GreenBus II™ communication network and ENCELIUM Polaris 3D® software, the ENCELIUM EMS offers unprecedented flexibility and control of a building’s lighting usage. Facility owners and managers now have the ability to incorporate lighting as a component of a portfolio-wide energy management program. The use of control software allows the ENCELIUM EMS to respond quickly to ever-changing building characteristics and requirements. Benefits include improved occupant comfort, workplace ergonomics and productivity; complying with building codes and energy efficiency requirements; and promoting a building’s “green” image and LEED certification efforts by reducing lighting energy consumption up to 50 to 75 percent. ENCELIUM EMS can contribute several points in up to five LEED categories including energy optimization, lighting controls and building management systems.

Launching at Greenbuild, the ENCELIUM Phase Cut Dimming Module (PCDM) is a new control interface to connect phase cut dimmable loads to the ENCELIUM GreenBus II communication network, enabling ON/OFF switching control or smooth continuous dimming via the ENCELIUM network. This control interface is compatible with a range of popular forward or reverse phase cut dimmable loads (Incandescent, Halogen, Fluorescent and LED), so designers have the flexibility to control a range of luminaires with the ENCELIUM network. Since these loads can be managed with the Polaris 3D GUI, users can create a personalized lighting experience and manage their energy consumption for these lighting spaces.

•    PermaLED™ Low Profile LED Canopy Luminaire with integrated control – Ideal for parking garages, canopy entryways and stairwells, these LED luminaires have a low profile 2.4” depth and can replace up to 175W traditional high intensity discharge (HID) luminaires, leading to energy savings up to 74 percent. The luminaire is available in 40W and 55W versions with a 5000K CCT, Type V distribution and 70,000 hours rated life.  Luminaire choices include canopy or garage optics, as well as integrated controls options. They are IP65 rated, DesignLight Consortium (DLC) listed, ETL listed, tested in accordance with IEE62.41-2002 category C surge protection and are backed by a standard 5-year warranty.

•    PermaLED™ Area Light – Ideal for a variety of exterior lighting applications including parking lots, street lighting and pathway lighting, this low profile, IP65 rated LED luminaire is available in Type III or V distributions with an integrated 0-10V dimming control option. By offering energy savings up to 57 percent compared to HID alternatives and having a 100,000 hour rated life (L70), the PermaLED Area Light is an ideal replacement for up to 400W HID luminaires. The product is available in 90, 140 and 200W versions in 4000K or 5000K CCT with up to 10kV surge protection for effective suppression of most AC line surges, and is backed by a standard 5-year warranty.

•    ProPoint™ LED Wallpack – This traditional wallpack housing with LED technology inside provides energy savings up to 76 percent over HID options and has a 65,000 hours rated life (L70). They can replace up to 150W HID wallacks and are available in 30, 50 and 85W versions with 4000K CCT and Type V distribution. The luminaires are IP65 rated, DLC listed for utility rebates and are tested in accordance with IEE62.41-2002 category C surge protection and backed by a standard 5-year warranty.

•    EMerge Alliance® Registered versions of the OSRAM RLS22 LED 2X2 Recessed Troffer Square Aperture, OSRAM RLD LED Downlight Luminaire and Traxon 1-PXL Board – In addition to developing lighting technologies designed to help businesses meet their environmental goals, OSRAM SYLVANIA is an active participant in driving new adoptions in the industry that can lead to improved sustainability. The company is a founding governing member of the EMerge Alliance, an open industry association leading the rapid adoption of safe DC power distribution in commercial buildings through the development of EMerge Alliance standards, and is an active member of the board of directors. Traxon Technologies, an affiliate of OSRAM SYLVANIA, is also a participating member of the EMerge Alliance with a portfolio of dynamic lighting solutions that are fundamentally DC-powered.
