UPM Raflatac Unveils Thermal Top Food Fit PEFC Label Stock for Prepacked Foods

UPM Raflatac has introduced Thermal Top Food Fit PEFC, a new label stock for prepacked food which are stored in chilled and moist environments.

The next-generation label stock has been designed for vacuum and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and lower environmental impact over its life cycle

In addition to offering higher productivity, improved print and conversion results, the Thermal Top Food Fit PEFC meets the standard quality requirements for direct thermal printing, the company said.

Part of the company’s Fit product range in the European market, the label stock can retain good strength to ensure reliable conversion and stable matrix stripping.

UPM Raflatac EMEIA business segment VIP and Prime director Jon Lenck said: "HG45 PEFC is thinner than the standard HG65 with excellent performance for conversion and end use.

“As well as reducing liner waste volumes and disposal costs, this also means a lower environmental impact over the whole lifecycle in terms of water and energy usage, as well as CO2 emissions."

Featuring RH9X adhesive and Honey Glassine 45 backing, the Thermal Top Food Fit PEFC is thinner compared to its previous-generation products

The solution also allows the use of longer reels for reduced less downtime and increased efficiency.

The HG45 Honey Glassine backing is made using PEFC certified wood raw material.

UPM Raflatac said that the RH9X adhesive can deliver exceptional adhesion performance on MAP and vacuum packaging surfaces.
