E-Sports to Push Demand for Gaming Notebooks

Many e-sports contests will be held around the world in the second half of 2016 and this is expected to stimulate demand for gaming notebooks and desktops. Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell, Lenovo, Asustek Computer, Gigabyte Technology, Micro-Star International (MSI) and Acer are expected to see rising gaming product sales in the third quarter, according to industry sources.

With China, Korea and several countries in Europe and North America treating e-sport as an official sport game and are providing support, new game software and hardware technology have been improving, drawing more consumers to buy gaming products.

Since products' specifications and brands are what most gamers care instead of the pricing, most gaming notebook products' selling prices are rather high and have been contributing strong profits to vendors.

In China, the number of regional gaming notebook brand vendors has been rising and has now reached almost 20. In addition to Lenovo, smaller vendors such as Haier and Hasee have also been pushing inexpensive gaming notebooks to boost revenues.

As for Taiwan-based MSI, the company's gaming desktop shipments have also been increasing thanks to orders from Dell's Alienware and the business is expected to become a major profit contributor in 2017.
