China is expected to purchase at least US$4.5 billion worth of panels from Taiwan in 2015, according to Francis Liang Kuo-hsin, chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
Liang said that there was a decrease in panel purchases from China in 2014 as a result of Taiwan makers allocating a significat proportion of production capacity to Korea panel makers.
Going into 2015, however, Liang said he estimates that China will at least purchase US$4.5 billion worth of LCD panels and may even surpass the amount despite local makers such as BOE and China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) beginning to ramp up production capacity.
