For carrying out tests, Nissan will provide FedEx Express with a test model e-NV200, which will be employed as a delivery vehicle for nearly one month to evaluate its potential for delivering international air cargo.

Several fleet firms which include AEON Retail in Japan and British Gas in Europe have tested Nissan's e-NV200 earlier.

FedEx Express North Pacific regional vice president Masamichi Ujiie said since 2005, the company has been aimed to make its vehicle fleet 20% more fuel efficient by 2020.

"FedEx is gradually shifting its delivery fleet to more efficient vehicles and increasing its investment in all-electric and alternative drivetrain vehicles," Ujiie said.

According to Nissan, the e-NV200 test vehicle is based on the company's NV200 multipurpose van which can be deployed over various driving situations including businesses, daily use, or leisure.

The carmaker is planning to launch NV200 in US and India, while it is already available in Japan, Europe, China and Malaysia.
