Hyundai Australia Will Issue Specifications of The Updated Elantra

The facelifted Hyundai Elantra has been teased ahead of its expected arrival in Australia later this year.

First seen on Hyundai‘s Korean website – a market where the Elantra is badged Avante – the two teaser images reveal minor tweaks to the front end, tail-lights and wheels.

The subtle changes up front include new LED headlight strips; a revised upper grille housing the Korean brand’s logo; and larger, silver-framed fog lights; while the rear-end features new LED-infused light clusters. A new wheel design with angular spokes is also highlighted.

A new reverse park assist system can also be seen in a sneak peek at the updated Elantra’s instrument cluster. Hyundai has made no announcement about changes to the Elantra’s 110kW/178Nm 1.8-litre petrol engine at this stage.

With potential to make its global debut at the Los Angeles auto show in November, the restyled Hyundai Elantra is expected to arrive locally late in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Year-to-date, 5171 Hyundai Elantras have been sold in Australia, accounting for 9.2 per cent of the company’s 55,988 units. The compact Hyundai sedan is also 12,101 behind its i30 hatchback/wagon sibling – currently Australia’s fourth-best-selling car behind the Mazda 3, Toyota HiLux and Toyota Corolla.

Hyundai Australia will announce specifications of the updated Elantra closer to its local launch.
