Up to 2011, Vanguard has installed GE's T5 Watt-Miser and ConstantColour ceramic metal halide indoor lighting system in many stores in China, and more than 25 branches have been installed with GE's Tetra miniMAX signage lighting system.

China Vanguard seeks to improve the quality of its outdoor signs, it requests panel illumination in the green area to reach 800Lux, yellow area to be 1000Lux, and the lumen to be remained more than 70% within five years. In view of that, GE Lighting specially installed Tetra miniMAX signage lighting system in 25 Vanguard supermarkets in last year. New signage panel lighting system will increase illumination by 20%, while save about 43% of energy. GE's Tetra miniMAX system is suitable for the lighting applications of small advertising signs fonts, but also it is ideal choice for the indoor slot and contour lighting in commercial buildings.
The new GE Lighting solutions have brought some economic benefits in energy efficiency and operation for Vanguard. It is expected to save about 20% energy in operation, equivalent to annual savings of $ 26,607, and the Payback Period is within 2 years. From an environmental perspective, the energy savings is equivalent to an annual reduction of about 330,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles.
