Alfred Louie Halted Production After The US FDA Inspectors Found Unsanitary Conditions

Alfred Louie, a California-based food company, has halted production after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspectors found unsanitary conditions at the premises.

Eastern District of California Judge Garland E. Burrell has approved a consent decree of permanent injunction for violation of safety in the company's sprouts and facility.

The FDA inspections have documented deficiencies in Alfred Louie processing facility and a laboratory testing in April and May 2013 revealed Listeria monocytogenes in its sprouts.

Alfred Louie receives, processes, manufactures and distributes ready-to-eat mung bean and soybean sprouts and wheat flour noodles.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of Alfred Louie products; however, those concerned about the symptoms of Listeriosis are advised to contact their healthcare provider.

Listeriosis can cause fatal infections in young children, frail or older people, and others with weakened immune systems.
