The XBox One Won The Emmy Award for Television Enhancement Devices

Xbox One Wins Emmy for TV and Media Features

The Xbox One has won an Emmy for its TV and Media features.

Microsoft has quietly announced the fact the Xbox One has won an Emmy.

The Xbox One won the Emmy Award for Television Enhancement Devices, and despite the fact we didn’t even know there was such an award.

Microsoft’s latest console is being recognised for its “industry-leading television-on-demand and media centre capabilities”, such as the OneGuide and other TV services.

OneGuide is the Xbox One’s custom EPG that offers you a TV guide and the ability to select shows to watch while gaming, thanks to the Xbox One Snap feature.

The Xbox One itself is compatible with cable TV content natively, but now also works with Freeview with the handy Xbox One Digital TV Tuner.

Microsoft said it is “proud to be awarded this honour by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.”

Previous recipients of the Emmy award for Television Enhancement Devices include Apple, TiVo and Roku. Sony even won the award 10 years ago.

The Xbox One has been pushing ahead with its media features over the past 12 months, thanks to monthly updates from Microsoft.

The console now has USB media player, DLNA, Plex, and myriad other media content service support. In comparison the PS4 is distinctly behind.

You can even buy a dedicated media remote for the Xbox One, if you’re looking for a more remote-like experience for your movies and TV shows.

The Xbox One also has 3D Blu-Ray support.
