The Aim of The Modernization Is to Reduce Emissions

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens Metals Technologies announced today, July 14, that it has received an order from Indian steelmaker Tata Steel to modernize the secondary emission system in its LD2 shop in Jamshedpur. The aim of the modernization is to reduce emissions - both in the plant itself and in the exhaust air - to reduce to a level as per the regulatory norms. The project is part of Tata Steel's campaign to reduce its local environmental impact and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.

Tata Steel runs an integrated steel plant in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand State, India, which has an annual production capacity of 9.7 million metric tons of crude steel. There are three LD (BOF) converters within the plant.
