Dutch, German Gas Spot Prices Diverge

Dutch and German gas spot prices lacked direction on the first day of the month Tuesday, with the Dutch day-head TTF losing ground, and the German equivalent ticking up.

By midday London time, TTF day-ahead last dealt 25 euro cent lower from Monday's close at Eur17.85/MWh.

Corresponding German GASPOOL and NetConnect contracts were up 17.5 euro cent at Eur17.825/MWh and Eur18.025/MWh.

Real-time Norwegian flow rates into Emden-Dornum on the Dutch-German border were steady day on day at a robust 148.5 million cu m/day at around midday London time, according to network operator Gassco.

End of day nominated imports from Norway into the Netherlands were indicated at 39.1 million cu m, compared with 43.2 million cu m Monday at about midday, while Norwegian imports into Germany were at 114.6 million cu m, Platts analytics unit Eclipse Energy said.

Germany was also expected to import 66.2 million cu m from the Czech Republic and 76.6 million cu m from Poland.

At around midday London time, Eclipse forecast domestic demand in the Netherlands Tuesday of 117.6 million cu m, compared with 119.3 million cu m Monday, while Germany was forecast at 308.1 million cu m, compared with 316.4 million cu m.

Eclipse's short-term demand model is calculated from latest demand, temperature and wind speed outturns in addition to deviations between weather forecasts and these last outturns.

Dutch production was expected at 125.2 million cu m, down from 130.7 million cu m Monday.

CustomWeather forecast temperatures in Amsterdam at 6 degrees Celsius above the 8/2 C high/low norms for Wednesday and also 5 C above average in Berlin at a high/low of 5/0 on the same day.

By midday London time, TTF January last dealt was at Eur18.075/MWh, down 10 euro cent from Monday's close. GASPOOL and NetConnect front month were at Eur18.30/MWh and Eur18.375/MWh, respectively.
