Biesseslipped Further Into The Negative Territory and Turnover Dipped 1.4% in 2012

Results of the Italian woodworking machinery producer Biesseslipped further into the negative territory and turnover dipped 1.4% to €383.1m in 2012. Adjusted for extraordinary items EBIT was largely stable at €7m at the pre-vious year's level. However, once extraordinary items are taken into account EBIT dropped to €0.3m. The pre-tax profit and the net profit were negative at €-5.1m and €-6.5m, respectively.

The minor loss in turnover last year was primarily due to lower sales in the Western Europe region, which experienced a drop in its contribution to turnover to 39.6%. Within this region, the Italian home market showed decline, in particular. As such, Italy only contributed 10.8% to Biesse's turnover last year. Eastern Europe ac-counted for 17.9 % of the total turnover, North America for 10.9% and the Asia-Pacific region for 19.2%. 12.4% of Biesse's turnover were accounted for by the Rest of the World region. The so-called BRIC countries (Brazil, India, and China), contributed 19.4%.
