Starbucks Rolles a New Reusable Plastic Cup to Cut Down Waste

US-based coffee chain Starbucks has rolled out a new reusable plastic cup at its cafes in a bid to cut down waste.

The new $1 cups, which were trialed across 600 stores in the Pacific Northwest over the past few months are expected to be rolled out nationwide and in Canada.

According to the company, the cups will be cleaned with boiling water when they are bought by customers each time.

Starbucks in 2008 said the chain wanted to serve 25% of all drinks in reusable cups by 2015 and the goal has since then been minimized to 5%.
