Located in a purpose built, positive-pressurized unit within the company's existing facility, the new 'contour' unit has the capability of laser scribing and cutting a wide range of materials to a specified depth and shape.

When used in conjunction with a pressure sensitive adhesive / zipper, the scribe produces an easy opening system on packaging and also creates resealable packs.

Parkside claims that the investment will add to the company's existing capabilities and expertise in flexographic print, multilayer laminations, coatings as well as label systems.

Parkside specialty packaging division divisional managing director Steve McCormick said the investment in new technology supports the company's business ethos of concentrating on technologically advanced packaging solutions.

"This provides our clients with the opportunity to develop unique and pioneering solutions for a wide variety of pack and label formats," McCormick added.
