German Furniture Manufacturing Industry Sales Fell 4% in The First Half of The Year

After several year turnover growth, the German furniture manufacturing fell sharply in the first half of this year. On Monday, German furniture manufacturing industry association said that the German furniture industry sales fell 4%, to 8 billion euros, lower than previously expected.

Expects the furniture industry sales decline between 2% and 3% in 2013. German furniture industry had high turnover of nearly 17.4 billion euros, up 1.3% from a year earlier in 2012.

For products, in the first half of 2013 the biggest decline is the mattress turnover amounted to 10.8%; Bedroom furniture sales fell 6.6%; Kitchen furniture sales declined slightly, decreased by 1.7%; Only store showcase sales increased significantly.

From the country, the total amount of the Germany furniture exports to France and the Netherlands was shrinking significantly. Instead of furniture exports to China and the United States (mostly luxury kitchen) recorded total growth, increased by 20% and 20% respectively.
