At Vitrum 2013 LiSEC will highlight its philosophy of vertical glass processing by showcasing the new glass processing machine KSU.
No set-up times and fast processing
Vertical design and automatic tool change render tool set-up and positioning times of LiSEC glass processing machines inconsequential. This is particularly beneficial when it comes to processing shapes and large glass sheets, since the arduous and lengthy process of positioning the suction cups is no longer necessary. Instead, glass can be processed in a continuous cycle, which leads to shorter cycle times and higher output.
Consistent quality, even for extra-long or coated glass sheets
The next-generation vertical LiSEC glass edge processing machines are equipped with a special spindle guide system, which ensures consistent polishing quality and parallel seams, even when processing sheets of ten metres or longer. The patented technology ensures that neither the front nor the rear glass surface is touched throughout the whole grinding process, and coated (e.g. low-e) glass sheets can be processed with no loss of quality.
Small space requirements and easy integration into production lines
All processing steps are performed by a single glass processing machine, which saves space and money otherwise spent on further necessary machinery. Vertical glass edge processing machines from LiSEC are not only suited for stand-alone operation but can also be directly integrated into production lines, since they do not significantly slow down the production process. If necessary, glass sheets can also just pass through without being processed.
Maximum flexibility of glass sizes, types and shapes
The patented guide system allows virtually any glass type, size or shape to be processed using LiSEC glass processing machines. Continuous processing of extremely large and heavy glass sheets is now a standard process.
Easy-to-use and intuitive user interface
LiSEC systems are down-to-earth and easy to operate. The input environment assists the operator and makes operating the machine simpler. If the machine is linked to an order management system, orders can be directly transferred to the machine. This will save work on the machine and increase daily output. If manual operations are necessary, data can be easily transferred to the machine, for example via a USB flash drive, and edited directly on the machine terminal in the usual drawing programme.
Vertical glass edge processing with the LiSEC KBU
The KBU edge processing centre from LiSEC meets the highest quality requirements and is able to grind and polish nearly any glass type or shape with a thickness from 2 to 19mm.
It produces polished edges of superior quality, as well as flat edges and C-shaped edges. The KBU is suitable for seaming both shapes and rectangles. Thanks to its versatility and the excellent quality of the end product, the KBU has already been installed at several locations around the world.
"The KBU runs very reliably and we are already using it for more processes than originally planned. We therefore decided to use the KBU in three-shift instead of two-shift operation," Josef Gasperlmair (Glas Gasperlmair Ges. mbH) says about the experiences made with the LiSEC edge processing machine. "The quality is convincing. We have not seen anything comparable so far, especially with regard to shapes. The investment has already paid off several times," Gasperlmair continues.
Vitrum preview: the fully automatic seaming machine LiSEC KSU
At this year's Vitrum, LiSEC will introduce the KSU, a slimmer alternative to the KBU, which has been developed specifically for seaming glass edges. Just like the KBU, the KSU offers all of the advantages of vertical glass processing. Visitors to the LiSEC booth (hall 13 / B02) can see the features and benefits of this recent development in live demonstrations.
