Sangam Has Launched Women's Branded Apparel Category

Bhilwara based textile major Sangam (India) has launched women’s branded apparel category under the name of ‘Channel Nine’.

Through this initiative, Sangam which has been supplying fabrics to garments manufacturers, has ventured into apparel manufacture and marketing, with a capacity to produce 3.6 million pieces per annum.

The ‘Channel Nine’ range, which was launched in Mumbai has introduced ‘seamless’ technology in women’s intimate, active and casual wear.

In a press release, Sangam informed that the seamless technology, imported from Italy, does away with the side seams in the apparel.

The range consists of intimate wear, active wear, yoga wear, shape wear, casuals and fitness products. Additionally, it has also launched an ecommerce portal.

“We have invested around Rs 60 crore in the facility and have started supplying to large format stores,” managing director SN Modani said.

“We are present through our distribution network across national retail chains, multi brand outlets, and now through our ecommerce portal,” he added.

Through its new brand, Sangam wants to make inroads into the domestic lingerie retail market, estimated at Rs 15,000 crore and growing at 20-25 per cent annually.

Sangam operates 200,000 spindles and 3,000 rotors to make polyester viscose (PV) dyed yarn and cotton yarn.

Besides, it also has a capacity to produce 30 million metres per annum of fabric and 40 million metres of denim.

In 2014-15, Sangam reported revenues of Rs 1,470 crore with exports accounting for around Rs 300 crore.
