$424.9m Is Invested by Honda in Swindon Plant, UK

Japanese car manufacturer Honda is planning to invest $424.9m to build new models and engines at its Swindon plant in UK.

As a part of the investment programme, Honda has launched new Honda Civic in last year and now extends to the Honda CR-V and new 1.6 litre diesel engine for Honda Civic.

According to the company, the Swindon plant will produce 183,000 vehicles by the end 2012.

In addition, the company said it is also planning to increase the production to 250,000 units in next three years.

The automaker has recruited 500 extra staff members, taking the Swindon workforce to 3,500 in order to meet the production demands of the UK plant.

UK Business Secretary Vince Cable said "Having created a host of new jobs, the investment supports Government's ambition to encourage new investment and exports as a route to renewed growth and a more balanced economy."
