Vogue International Selects Avery Dennison to Cut Down Environmental Fallouts of Labels

Vogue International, which owns OGX hair care products, has selected Avery Dennison's Global MDO film labels to cut down environmental fallouts of pressure-sensitive labels.

With the adoption of the Global MDO film labels, the hair care brand is expected to decrease environmental impacts by 26% to 34%, through reduction in the use of fossil material, usage of water and energy, greenhouse gas emissions and waste generated.

The savings are said to be equivalent to saving drinking water for 131 US citizens, and doing away with annual waste of five US households.

Avery Dennison North America FMCG director Laura Clark said: "Improvements in sustainability require collaboration across the value chain. Vogue's leadership in improving the environmental profile of packaging is driving the value chain to work closer together."

Vogue has conducted a study using Avery Dennison's Greenprint methodology, and found that thinner label materials will reduce environmental impacts.

The life-cycle evaluation through Greenprint tool, launched in 2010, has helped Vogue in switching to Global MDO film.

Vogue International marketing and product development manager Jamie Kontz said: "Vogue International is committed to reducing our environmental impact and increasing transparency while maintaining our commitment to sustainable practices.

"We encourage our suppliers and business associates to also make an effort toward practices that are not only commercially sound, but have a positive impact for future generations."
