On the back of a strategic alliance struck with the Muar Furniture Association (MFA) in December of 2012, event organiser UBM is in the midst of preparing for the roll-out of one of Southeast Asia’s leading annual furniture trade shows known as the Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), slated for kick-off this month. Currently in its eighteenth round, MIFF was first launched in 1995.

“As a respected international organiser, UBM will bring quality buyers from around the world to give real value and global exposure to our members,” said MFA President, Boo Eng Chee.

In line with the partnership deal, beginning with 2013, MFA will now participate exclusively in the initiative. It is the first ever commitment of its kind by the prominent trade organisation. Interestingly, Muar accounts for 45% of Malaysia’s furniture exports, with a base of approximately 500 manufacturers, including eight public-listed companies.

MIFF is set to run from March 05 – 09, 2013 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) and Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC). The organisers have decided to add 25% more space to the show, including a special marquee for MFA exhibitors. The collaboration is certain to strengthen the event’s position as the single, largest platform for home-grown furniture, primarily hard wood products.

“MIFF has always been a robust one-stop centre for global furniture buyers and exhibitors. Now buyers can source from an even bigger range of products and establish direct contacts with more top manufacturers,” said M Gandhi, UBM Malaysia’s MD.
