Hannah Sage's toy lion that helps military or seperated families stay in touch is in the running to win a share of £1 million to develop the project.

Inventors Workshop alumni Hannah Sage is competing in a race to win a share of £1 million to help develop her award-winning toy design, Milo.

Milo – an electronic lion toy that helps military or separated families stay in touch – is just one of a number of British start-ups and inventions taking part in this year’s Virgin Media Business VOOM initiative.

The competiton sees young businesses compete for a chance to pitch the Richard Branson’s business investment arm in order to win a share of £1 million to help take their projects to the next level.

Over 14 weeks the competition will include a public vote, a 29-hour Pitchathon and a series of competitive face-to-face workshops before the big finale with Richard Branson himself.

Sage is currently engaging in the first hurdle of the race, the public voting stage, calling on the support of the consumers and all those who would like to see Milo land on shelves up and down the country, to pledge their support for the project.

“To help get Milo to market I need a little extra help - business and professional support to help develop the software and website and also to create a product that can be manufactured efficiently,” said Sage via her VOOM 2016 pitch page.
