Miami Country Day School Received The Donation of a Custom-Created Glass Mosaic Floor

Surfaces Inc. Donates Custom Glass Mosaic Floor to Miami SchoolMiami Country Day School received the donation of a custom-created glass mosaic floor for Plaza Colombia, the main entrance of its Katherine E. Franco Center for Learning Resources. Months of planning, hundreds of hours of work and thousands of small mosaic glass pieces, specifically dedicated to this project, were donated to the school by Albert and Karise Claramonte, owners of Surfaces Inc.

This floor, which included the school's "seal," was handmade using over 60,000 tiny pieces of glass. Completely suitable for high foot-traffic areas, it took Surfaces' world-class mosaic artisans just over two months to create this magnificent piece of art.Techniques used to make this mosaic date back to ancient Rome and Greece, allowing the artists to create complex shapes with highest quality precision.

“Donating this beautiful glass mosaic to Miami Country Day offers our company the opportunity to help visually enhance a school which has a clear-cut mission to give children from the Miami area the highest quality education. Karise and I were honored to contribute this  piece of art as a centerpiece for such an important building. We hope it will inspire children to focus some of their upcoming energies on artistic pursuits,” said Albert Claramonte.
