Kodak Launches Substrate Expansion Kit for Nexpress Digital Platform

Technology firm Kodak has introduced new substrate expansion kit for Nexpress digital platform.

The new substrate expansion kit can be installed with Kodak Nexpress presses to handle various types of paperboard and synthetic substrates.

The new platform allows to handle paperboard substrates with weightings graded up to 24 points/610 microns.

Kodak’s substrate expansion kit will enable to print on materials with weightings up to 14mil for synthetic substrates.

The thicker substrates allow printers to use in short-run packaging applications, including labels, tags and small folding cartons.

They can also be used for commercial and publishing products such as point-of-sale displays, retail signage and business cards, as well as hospitality pieces such as menus and door hangers.

Last year, the company also launched Nexpress ZX3300/ZX3900 presses, which integrates new features that allow to use in a range of applications.

Nexpress opaque white dry ink is a new print enhancement solution, which can be used in applications such as packaging, signage, labels and invitations.

Eastman Kodak NexPress electrophotographic printing solutions product manager Leonard Christopher said: “NEXPRESS Presses deliver industry-leading productivity, unique print capabilities, and modular design – enabling customers to upgrade to the latest technology available within each Nexpress Platform.

“With the introduction of the Substrate Expansion Kit, printers can continue to broaden their application offerings, enabling them to grow their businesses and customer base.”

Kodak offers hardware, software, consumables and services to customers in graphic arts, commercial print, publishing, packaging, electronic displays and consumer products markets.
