People Can See Clearly in The Vale Park Again Installed a New Set of LED Lights

People will be able to see clearly once again in Vale Park as a new set of LED lights have been installed.

Indeed, Aylesbury Vale District Council secured £60,000 in developer contributions from the Aqua Vale leisure centre project to install up to 20 energy efficient lights along the main footpaths this month.

Despite the good news there still remains an issue with drainage at the park, with flooding a frequent problem, especially given the recent weather seen in the area.

Cabinet member for leisure David Thompson told the Bucks Herald that the park has been built on a flood plain and hoped to be able to set aside some money to rectify the issue in the coming months.

The footpaths through the park are popular routes for users of the leisure centre, as well as dog walkers and local people. As such Mr Thompson is pleased about the new illuminations.

He commented: "The new lights will make a big difference to park users. I think everyone wants to see a safe environment and good lighting is a vital part of this.

"The LED lights are more efficient than conventional lighting and will also save the council money in the long term."

New lighting is part of the overall redevelopment of the site with a new children's play area and sports zone.

There are also set to be some larger grassed areas, footpaths and tree planting input.

This is not the only council that is looking towards installing LED lighting as a way of cutting their energy bills. This is because LEDs use much less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs.

Despite being more expensive to install and purchase, they last much longer and use around 50 per cent less energy, meaning that money is saved in the long run.
