There Are Seven Million LED Lights Lining The Tunnel of Lights on The Island of Nagashima

A Tunnel of lights in Japan dazzles visitors with millions of LED lights, according to a Nov. 10 report from The Inquisitor. There are seven million LED lights lining the tunnel of lights on the island of Nagashima, Japan.

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded small business innovation research grants to Applied Nanotech and Universal Display for research on thermal management for LEDs and research on high efficacy WOLEDs respectively.

Epistar has announced that Toshiba has granted a patent license regarding certain AlGaInP LED technologies and sold certain AlGaInP LED patents to Epistar.

8.   Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs to Put Forward LED Bulbs Subsidy

Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs has put forward the LED bulbs subsidy scheme for household, and has sent to the government for approval. According to Minister of Economic Minister of Economic Affairs Shih Yen-shiang, the first subsidy will cover low-income house. It’s estimated that 200,000 households will benefit from the plan.

9.   London borough to use iPads to control streetlights

Streetlights across a the borough of Westminster are to be fitted with remote monitoring CMS (Central Management System) technology, which can be controlled from an iPad. This will alert technicians to any problems as soon as they arise.

10.  South Korea aggressively promotes LED commercialization policies

To promote the commercialization of LED lighting, South Korea's Knowledge Economy Ministry announced in 2006 a "15/30" plan, which means to achieve 30% LED lighting commercialization by 2015. The ministry later announced a "20/60" plan in hopes to achieve 60% commercialization by 2020 and a full ban on producing and selling incandescent lamps in 2014.

11.  The Low-Power LED Products Will Become The Mainstream in LED Light Packaging Market in 2013

LED makers in up stream will keep producing low power LED package and launch on lighting market. It’s predicted that low power LED bulbs still have a 20% room for price cut in 2012, therefore, low power LED products is still the main specification in the competitive markets between LED bulb and LED tube.
