Located in one of the largest potato growing regions in the country, the plant will be capable of producing frozen potato products, including frozen french fries and potato flakes, which will cater to customers across Asia.

The plant is acquired by the company in July and it employs around 340 people.

Commenting on the facility, Lamb Weston president Greg Schlafer said: "We're pleased to be a part of the local community here in Shangdu, supporting the agricultural economy in the region.

"We're confident in our local workforce, and we're proud to bring our more than 60 years of potato processing experience to the area with a focus on safe, efficient and sustainable operations."

Lamb Weston supplies frozen potato, sweet potato, appetizer and other vegetable products to both the foodservice and retail industries across the globe.

Earlier this year, ConAgra Foods acquired TaiMei Potato Industries in the country as part of its strategy to grow its international business.
