Popular online home fabric retailer Curtains Made Simple this week introduced a new Scandinavian line of top quality fabrics for curtains, blinds, cushions and table covers from the cream of Swedish and Finnish-influenced design.
Up to 12 new ranges are now available on the e-commerce site where clients can purchase fabrics for home use, or have them produced into made to measure curtains, Roman blinds and a range of home wares accessories of their choice.
These new design lines include the latest offerings from famous century-old Swedish family firms such as Almedahls and Klippan to the more recently established and quirky Spira and Littlephant.
Some of the fabrics, such as those produced by Almedahls, combine traditional and contemporary Swedish style while other designers bring in outside influences such as Cape Town-based Skinny Malinx whose fabrics are a collaboration of colourful and flamboyant South African influence and clean, orderly Swedish design. Stockholm-based Tiogruppen introduce a Japanese influence into their bold abstract work while Linum has Indian origins. Both Klippan and Linum are currently stocked in international home ware store IKEA.
Designers Susanne Kjöllerström and Lena Brunnsåker at Spira retain a Swedish aesthetic while at the same time creating ‘unexpected designs which clash.’ Darker, striking graphic patterns with a very definite Swedish twist are Mairo’s stock in trade. Fans of Norse mythology and popular Scandinavian folklore will often find both in the fabrics of the celebrated Arvidssons Textile.
