Comexi Enters Into a Deal with Two European Companies to Install Comexi Ci8 Printing Press

Manufacturer of flexible packaging machinery The Comexi Group has entered into a deal with two European companies to install its Comexi Offset CI8 printing press.

The companies, one from Austria and the other from East Europe, are investing in the equipment to meet the increase in demand.

The advantage of this press is that it combines both offset variable lengths and flexo central impression drum printing in one single press for flexible packaging and labels.

The press also makes use of servo drive technology which leads to fast production, reduced press downtime and start-up waste.

The machine prints in up to 7-colors, plus white or lacquer, with a web width of 900 mm or 1100 mm, at a maximum speed of 300m/min.

Speaking about the reason why the companies chose the Comexi packaging equipment, the company said in a statement: It is not new that flexible packaging has been facing the rising costs of materials and price pressures while run lengths have been decreasing. Within this scenario, operating costs and specifically changeover times and waste are key factors to take into account when deciding the best printing solution.

"Brand owners are increasingly demanding to add value to their packs; highest quality, fast delivery and competitive prices are perhaps never ending requests. Those demands are challenging the capabilities of the converters with traditional technologies. It is an opportunity for those converters to introduce an innovative technology that easily solves those requirements and simplifies operational processes."

The machine also combines fast job changeover with EB curing technology which allows usage of solventless and instantaneous cured inks without photoiniciators, fully compatible for use in food packaging.

The machine offers maximum flexibility by using offset technology, allowing very short time-to-market, due to the fast in-house pre-press that allows switch-over to a new job while the press is still carrying out a previous one.

It is also easy to change the printing cylinders manually and all job parameters can be digitally stored and recalled. Pre-setting of mechanical adjustments including ink keys, form-rollers and printing cylinders are also automatic.

Comexi also said that the fast and keen in-house plate making helps companies save on production cost.
