Lextar Electronics and Everlight Electronics have seen utilization rates rise to 80% and expect the rates to further rise to 100% and 85%, respectively, in the second quarter of 2015 due to increasing orders for LED lighting and backlighting, according to the companies.

Lextar will expand monthly LED epitaxial wafer capacity from 300,000 wafers at the end of 2014 to 350,000 units by the end of the second quarter of 2015, the company said. Everlight began to ship LED backlight modules to new South Korea- and Japan-based vendors in the first quarter of 2015 and will start shipments to new LED lighting clients in the second quarter, the company said.
