Feature-Packed iOS 10.2 Public Beta Arrives - Here's How to Try It First

Apple has released its latest iOS 10 public beta, bringing with it a number of neat new features for iPhone and iPad users.

The update, which can be downloaded by anyone enrolled in the public beta program offers a preview of the new TV app, designed to make it easier to find content across multiple video apps and services.

The TV app was announced at Apple’s Mac event last month and will also be present on the Apple TV’s tvOS software. It will allow users to sync content between both devices and pick up viewing where they left off.

Elsewhere, there’s new Unicode 9 emojis, which include a clown, bacon, a selfie, a cowboy hat face, a sneezing face and a whiskey glass among other completely essential items.

The beta also brings some brand new camera options, including the ability to preserve the last-used capture state (e.g. square, video, slo-mo, etc.).

There’s also support for an SOS feature which will send out a call for help when a user presses the power button 5 times in a row.

The Messages app gets a new ‘Celebration’ effect, while iPhone 7 owners will also be able to enjoy three new wallpapers.

The update is certainly more significant than the iOS 10.1 release which fixed a few bugs and added the new Portrait camera mode for iPhone 7 Plus users.

Apple released the iOS 10.2 beta to developers last week. The completed version will probably be rolled out to everyone next month.

Want an early peak? You can sign up for the beta here. Once registered, you'll need to install a profile granting you early access through Software Updates. We'd advise you to only install on a secondary device that has been recently backed up.
