Iconic Regent Street toy specialist has revealed its plans to target major cities and airports across the US.

London’s Hamleys is planning to open an outlook in the US for the first time as it reveals its strategy to seek stores in major cities and airports.

The iconic Regent Street retailer is now considering stores in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, according to a report in the UK trade journal, Property Week.

The toy specialist is also looking to open small stores in at least 20 airports.

Widely known as the oldest toy shop in the world, Hamleys first embarked on its plans for international expansion when it was bought by French retailer Groupe Ludendo in 2012.

Across the UK, there are now Hamleys stores in three airports, including Heathrow and Stansted, as well as shopping centres such as Manchester’s Trafford Centre and has nearly 40 stores across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The group also boasts a strong presence in Russia, Cyprus, Sweden and Denmark.
