Shipments in The Q1 of 2015 Expected to Increase Sequentially by at Least 10%

LED packaging service provider Unity Opto Technology has seen booming orders for LED lighting from the US and Europe with shipments scheduled through March 2015, the company said. Thus, Unity Opto is expected to ship 30-40 million LED light bulbs in 2015, according to market analysts.

In addition to LED lighting, Unity Opto has obtained orders for WCG (wide color gamut) LED backlighting from high-end smartphone vendors and expects to receive such orders from vendors of medium- to large-size WCG LCD TVs in 2015, the company said. Shipments in the first quarter of 2015 are expected to increase sequentially by at least 10%, Unity Opto indicated.

Unity Opto has expand monthly production capacity for LED light bulbs to 3.0 million units and will further add 1-2 assembly lines in the first quarter of 2015, the company said. Unity Opto will also expand production capacity for WCG LED backlighting units in the quarter.

Unity Opto on January 6 reported consolidated revenues of NT$664 million (US$20.9 million) for December, decreasing by 24.30% on month but increasing by 41.25% on year, those of NT$2.419 billion for the fourth quarter, slipping by 8.04% on quarter but growing by 42.31% on year, and sales of NT$9.012 billion for 2014, rising on year by 26.89%.
